PhotoHunt - High

DSCF2833
High atop Mount Pilatus, Switzerland. We visited this place in autumn 2004.

We enjoyed the thrill of a breathtaking gondola ride for 30 mins. The view from the gondola provided an awesome view of the city of Lucerne and we were high up on the gondola when I took this picture.

At 7000 feet high above sea level, we were greeted by heavenly skies and incredible mountains as far as the eye could see.

This is a view of a gondola high up through the mountains. It looked scary but I was glad that I didn't see how steep the mountainside was before that.

Looking over the highest peak of Mount Pilatus. It's really high and really cold but moments like these take my breath away.

  1. Wonderful photos of this amazing place - I went up in that very same gondola while staying in Switzerland last year but it wasn't a cold and icey day - you have captured the feel of the place beautifully and brought back lovely memories! Thank you!

  18. Those are indeed amazing and incredible places which i am sure you treasure the photos. And i can't imagine how those structures atop the rocky mountains were built. Fear of heights wont allow me to traverse those walks to the top! I envy your experience there.

  26. I can see why your trip was memorable. During the warmer months, do people walk those outdoor stairs from the building up to the peak?

  27. AVCr8teur,

absolutely yes but not for the faint-hearted. i remember climbing up the smaller peak and the uneven stairs and the wooden railing can be a little nerve wrecking though the views are breathtaking. Looking at the trails criss-crossing the highest peak, I wonder whether next time I should walk up? no i don't think so.

  28. Beautiful view from up there! I want to visit Switzerland!

  29. Stunning location, and of course great pictures which capture the amazing views. I don't think the trip up those stairs to the top would be so bad ... as long as you never looked down...
