Skywatch over Gilleleje, Denmark

While wandering through my archives, I came across these pictures captured in Denmark during spring time a few years ago. I'm still enjoying the photos I captured there and hope you like them too.

Rows of Fishing Boats docked in Gilleleje harbour. What a pleasant treat it was to see the blue skies and golden sunshine that greeted us at that moment. It rained most of the time, but one sunny moment was all I needed to enjoy this.

Wordless Wednesday - Nyhavn, Copenhagen

It was an amazing experience visiting the ever popular Nyhavn (pronounced "New-Hown") which literally means 'New Port' or 'New Harbour', but is not as new as its name suggests. The wonderful canal-street is lined with colourful old houses, street musicians and veteran sailing vessels with some famous cafes and restaurants. The famous fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen used to live here.

there are numerous boat trips from Nyhavn around the harbour area and canals to historical sights and known places.

The great Memorial Anchor in front of Nyhavn is a monument commemorating all the Danish sailors who have died during World War II.

Wordless Wednesday - Little Mermaid of Copenhagen

The famous Little Mermaid of Copenhagen inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale is one of Denmark's biggest tourist attractions. Almost everyone who comes to Copenhagen visits the icon. The statue of The Little Mermaid (Den lille havfrue in Danish) which is relatively small in size, sits gracefully on a rock in the Copenhagen harbour at Langelinie. Unfortunately, this charming statue has been vandalized on several occasions but has each time been restored.

Incase if you are travelling to Copenhagen in 2010, please do take note : The Little Mermaid statue will leave the Danish shores for the duration of the Shanghai World Expo 2010 (from May to October).

Many tourists will climb over the rocks to pose beside her for a photograph.
