The monkeys can be seen pouncing on my neighbour's car and they were even strong enough to pull out the side mirror of the vehicle. I tried to chase them away but the aggressive monkeys refused to leave, ignoring me, so quickly, in order not to be observed I took some shots of them. One of them was glaring, shrieking at me and in minutes they were gone! Luckily it didn’t advance further.
The monkeys enjoyed walking, sitting high on the telephone cables, enjoying a feast of the stolen food, creating havoc. They like flowers too. I've no idea what they do with the flowers.
Last year, the Wildlife Department had employed measures like setting up traps to capture the monkeys and relocating elsewhere. The numbers have decreased and we did not face any problems since then. Unfortunately, we noticed that the monkeys were making an appearance in recent weeks again. I hope the authorities can come up with more effective solutions to tackle the monkey menace here as they are becoming a menace to society.

Hope the monkeys did not scratch the car.
ReplyDeleteAwww...I am not the first commenter. :p Too late already.
ReplyDeleteYeah! Once...the housing areas I am living is "haunted" by monkeys too. Their sight is not very pleasant. :(
ReplyDeleteI thing these monkeys are really dangerous...especially to kids. :(
ReplyDeleteGoodness. How come the authority didn't do anything about this?
War...they have to guts to perch on cars and bike? They are so fearless right now. Which is not a good thing right LR? :(
ReplyDeleteThey are vicious...and should not be anywhere near our home. :(
Perhaps someone should inform the wildlife dep again? :p
ReplyDeleteAnyway have a great day LR. :D
I am scared of monkeys! @_@ They can be quite vicious.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, pity them also. They are losing their habitat due to development and venture out to human residences. In the end, the monkeys are at a losing end. :(
wah...so many monkeys.so dangerous, they might carry some diseases, should urge the authority to get rid of them...
ReplyDeleteThese are wild monkeys and are hungry for food. At time, they can be mischievous too, purposely creating havoc.
ReplyDeleteThat looked like a long tailed macque. I am not fond of monkeys. Find them scary and can be aggressive too.
ReplyDeleteI am so lucky not to have monkey as my neighbour.
ReplyDeleteBut I enjoy taking their pictures.
Are they some new development around your area that take away the monkey's homes. These are wild animals. If their homes in the forest and their food source (e.g. bananas) are stripped bear, they will be forced to wander to nearby homes to look for food and shelter. Maybe they are just as confused when coming face to face with us just like the little girl in the ET movie. I wonder who is at fault, the wild monkeys who don't understand us or the authorities who didn't do their job well or is it the developers who lack social responsibility?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your daughter didn't get hurt. It's sad really, the monkeys are losing habitat. Becoming accustomed to encroaching humans they are bolder in their actions which causes them to lose even more habitat. Probably families are separated when relocated. I'm sure they consider humans to be a nuisance and wish the monkey squad would relocate them instead, but no such luck. The next best thing for them is to take advantage of human interaction as a resource for food and places to hang out and sleep.
ReplyDeleteOh...I find that cute and scary!
ReplyDeleteLina, Autumn Belle, Sukhmandhir,
ReplyDeletewith the dry hot season, there's hardly any food available in their natural habitat and therefore their only source is to invade the nearby residential area for food. The monkeys normally come in groups and ravaged gardens and orchards.
and they are smart primates too. During the fruit season, the animals are perched high on fruit trees and would knocked the fruits down even before they could ripen. how downright pathetic!
up to no good i see!
ReplyDeleteReading is Sexy
I thought it was funny until I saw they went to attack your child! thats frightening.
ReplyDeleteScary! but glad you grabbed your camera.
ReplyDeletethey are cute but i dont think i would love to see them at the top of our car :)

ReplyDeleteOh my!!! I adore monkeys but not when they are already harmful like this one. Hope your government will do something about it for the safety of the people.
ReplyDeletehave a great day!
They look cute when performing in a show, but I can see they are a menace in real life! Not my favorite creatures! :(
ReplyDeleteWow! I didn't realize that monkeys could be such a pain!! They look cute in pictures...
ReplyDeleteThis is quite unusual. I haven't heard of monkeys going around the neighbourhood. They're cute but they can be harmful to people and things. Like you said, I hope the authorities should look into this matter again to prevent further damage.
ReplyDeleteoh my, that is a lot of closed up monkey for a residential area. they could be trouble if thrashing the stuff outside the house. btw, sorry for not being able to drop by too often lately. am busy with moving the office. :)
ReplyDeletethese monkies look dangerous, shouldn't someone do something about it?
