Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish all you moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day! It's a pleasant trip down memory lane for me, remembering wonderful snippets of memories and all the fabulous things our mother did for us when we were young.

I hope every mother out there has a very special day, and gets plenty of kisses, giggles and cuddles from their loved ones. Now that I am a blessed mommy of three, I certainly appreciate the hugs and thoughtful gifts from my children like when they make me some handmade cards and crafts.

Most of all, thank you to all beautiful mothers out there for everything you've done to make our world a better place. Thank you for your guidance and support you've given us, the meals you've provided, the caretaker of us when we were sick and making sure all our physical and emotional needs are met. And if you are not a mother may you have a splendid time with your loved ones too!

This is a photo of my lovely mom. She has always been a true inspiration to me and my family. I love her more than anything in this world. She is my best friend, my confidante, my biggest supporter and always listens to my random ramblings when I'm feeling blue. I'm fortunate to still enjoy time with my mom and I'm thankful she is still in pink of health in her 60's ! Love and hugs to you, mom and thank you for being such a wonderful Mother!

Photo Hunt - In Memory

The Sleeping Lion or Dying Lion of Lucerne is one of the world's most famous monuments. It was carved out of natural rock and was built in 1820 in memory of the Swiss Guards that were killed during the French Revolution in 1792 in the service of the King of France, Louis XVI.

I could not believe my eyes when we came upon this amazing site. It was so wonderfully crafted and truly realistic. Mark Twain, the well-known American author described the Lion of Lucerne as "the saddest and most moving piece of rock in the world." He was absolutely right. I haven't seen too many pieces of sculpture that looked mournful or moving but I personally have to agree with this description. You can see and feel the sadness on the lion's face distinctively.

Wordless Wednesday - Beautiful Arches in Turkey

I've always been fascinated with arches of all kinds. The arches here are quite impressive to say the least. Here are a few pictures taken during our journey to Turkey a few years ago.

Kids' Crafts: Origami Project

My thirteen year old daughter enjoys doing origamis. She can create all sorts of fanciful things using this ancient Japanese art of paper folding such as balls, cranes, hearts, deers, swans, dragonflies, frogs, and flowers. She's in the midst of making one hundred origami designs for her school project next week. And that's why she has spent the entire weekend folding and tucking all these little structures. The wonder of being able to turn a piece of paper into a fascinating, life-like design is an extremely cool and rewarding craft project for kids and adults of all ages.

I came across a wonderful website, Origami Tutorial that would be useful for anyone who wants to learn to make origamis. This site provides you with a fair amount of really cool strategies, step by step photos with detailed directions, and best of all, you can create different models with the basic module. My daughter has already made a lot of the projects, and the result was amazing indeed!

Suffice to say, this is one hobby that everyone can pursue and enjoy. I may actually learn to how to make them one day. :) Look, I'm showcasing some of my favourite origamis that my daughter made.

Origami hearts with the stand

This is perhaps the most classic of all origami, the Origami Cranes. This is the one unique origami everyone tries to learn to fold. According to Japanese legend, these cranes promise good health, long life, and happiness to anyone who folds a thousand of them.

Photo Hunt - Walking

While I was in Hong Kong a few years ago on business, I had the opportunity to visit some cool places. It was a week of lots of shopping, lots of photo snapping, lots of eating and lots of walking. The weather was incredibly hot and humid and I felt like I was walking into a sauna.

For anyone going to Hong Kong, I think the journey to Lantau Island was unmissable. The main attraction of the island was, none other than the Giant Buddha himself. I think all the walking was enough to burn off whatever extra calories I've put on. Despite the hazy weather conditions that day, the view was still fabulous with its challenging walking trails for walkers to enjoy.

Look how peaceful and serenity the Buddha looks.

Happy Photo Hunters and Happy walking folks!
