PhotoHunt - Black

As much as I love colour photography, I enjoy black and white shots immensely. I can't say I have the experience in converting to black and white, so it is actually my first attempt at it. I took this photo originally in color and switch it to black and white in Picasa. When I saw the results, I was pretty pleased with the conversion. I like the perspective, the different feel of it and the black and white textures.

What is your preference? Have you experimented much with black and white digital photography?

  7. I want to learn how to do this. Both photos are beautiful but the black and white one has more of a sense of age/history to it.

    Happy weekend.

  8. Genius take on the theme. Happy weekend. That duck on the previous post is so adorable as well. It doesn't look real.

  10. Black and white always does bring out the testures of your subjects. I think it looks great in monochrome

  11. You did good in turning the coloured pic to black and white. I have not tried this yet. It's really nice in Istanbul.

  13. I must admit that I prefer the color photo. Either way, nice tries -- and have to say that the Ortakoy Mosque is beautiful inside as well as outside. (Yes, I've been there (too)!) :)r

  22. Both are nice. I have played a little bit with b&w and it can be very effective with clouds in a blue sky like this photo.

  23. I like both. I've only tried b&w during a photoshop class I took online. Some photos look good either way and some only in color. Your's looks good in both.

  25. Black and white photography is a totally different thing, it requires seeing texture and contrast rather than the brilliance. Sometimes I think the color images get distracting because of spots of color that draw your eye away from the main focus. I like your black and white version better, actually.
