Skywatch - Marina Bay Sands

During my recent visit to Singapore, we’ve been experiencing bouts of torrential rainfall almost everyday.

These were captured at Collyer Quay and you can see how wet the ground has been. Glad the rain stopped long enough for us to take a leisurely stroll along the Quay and do some skywatching in the late evening.

Across the water is the skyline-dominating, Marina Bay Sands with three 55-storey towers connected by a 1 hectare sky terrace on the roof, which is known as Sands SkyPark. We managed to visit the rooftop too and took some pictures but I'll post them another time.

Here is another lovely view of the resort fronting the bay. Sitting pretty at the left corner of this photo is the lotus flower shaped ArtScience museum followed by Singapore Flyer as far as the eye can see.

Wordless/Wordful Wednesday - Momentum

DSC_4004

This is Singapore's tallest public sculpture with 175 individual hand-painted steel figures located at Finlayson Green.

Momentum depicts an upward cycle of progress, symbolisling the energy and momentum of the business district, Singapore and its people. If you look closely, each cool sculpture has different postures but generally show a sense of movement.

Standing at 61 feet tall, I learned that an initial investment of over SD$2 million was spent to develop the sculptures. It 's a very expensive project but I think the sculptures portray well as an encouragement to the people to gain momentum and continuing to improve and progress.

Our World - Criss cross

DSC_3932
A view of criss-cross escalators I came upon at VivoCity in Singapore.

It's interesting to see the escalators criss cross in such a way that allows you to watch people on the other side.

The view from the highest level looks cool but pretty terrifying if you’re an acrophobia.

Scenic Sunday - Tis the season

For Scenic Sunday, I'm sharing a series of Christmas photos from my recent vacation in Singapore. Since Christmas is just a few weeks away, decorations have already been put up in hotels, stores and shopping malls. The festive mood is just contagious and I could already feel the Christmas spirit in the air. They also had Christmas music playing everywhere!

Here are some shots of my early Christmas experience in VivoCity.

Looking along the main gallery, there are strings of Christmas lights lit up all along the glass railings. I think the green tiled roof adds greatly to the lovely decoration.

DSC_5726
Lots of stalls selling a wide array of Christmas goodies but I did not buy anything! I only look and take photos. :)

DSC_3884
Along the way we were greeted by a delightful Christmas tree dressed in glittering ribbons and shiny baubles.

DSC_3878
Adorable puppies grinning happily enjoying the occasion. I would gladly love to have them decorating my home.

Vibrant colours of poinsettia and shiny ornaments vying for attention

Cheery baubles waving from the distance welcoming everyone.

And here is VivoCity’s iconic 105 feet tall Christmas tree festively decorated with twinkling lights bringing pure joy of the season.

I just love this time of year. And to be with family and friends made it even more memorable and joyful.

Just a quick post to let you know that I'll be going to Singapore for a short getaway so I'll be taking a brief blogging break.

Hopefully the weather will be fine and I'll be able to take some decent photos worth sharing.

I apologize that I have not been able to reply to your comments and visit your blogs.

Thank you for your love and continuous support.
