Macro Monday - Sweet treat

My sister and her hubby recently hosted a party to celebrate their son's first birthday.

With the Angry Birds craze going on these days, they organised an Angry Birds themed party.

The texture and detail on the cake is very eye popping and looks neat but of course, that didn’t stop anyone from eating it! :)

The kids went crazy over the cake and it's funny to see how they were fighting over who got to eat these little birdies. :)

Happy Independence Day!

Merdeka Day is no doubt one of my favorite holidays of all time and congrats to Malaysia for coming thus far. Woohoo! It is the 52nd birthday of our beloved nation tomorrow, or as I see it, the birthday of our glorious country on earth.

Let's enjoy this momentous day for all the efforts and achievements since independence. It is a great day indeed and yay, I don't need to wake up way too early tomorrow. :)

Regardless of whether you're out at a BBQ celebrating over yummy meals, spending time with your loved ones, enjoying the brilliant fireworks, or simply catching up on some patriotic movies, I hope everyone is having a joyous and safe holiday weekend.

Peace and harmony. God Bless Malaysia!

My Husband's Birthday

It's my beloved hubby's birthday today and I find myself at a loss on what gift to get for him. Although he doesn't want a big fuss made every year, I just couldn’t help it. I want to organise something surprising and sensational for his birthday. It just seemed not right to not honour someone you love and cherish so deeply on this special day. I'll be cooking something special, yet simple tonight and I'll go pick up a cake. Infact, I've booked a mini vacation for our family over the weekend.

I'm just happy being with a man who loves me unconditionally and is looking forward to the future with me. While there's bound to be upturns and downturns in life, we are very much attached and we've immensely enjoyed hanging out together. He is my very best friend, my confidant, my comfort zone, my safe haven, my true love, my soul mate, my miracle, my gift from God! I love him truly, madly, deeply. He's absolutely perfect for me.

I'm so thankful to have him in my life and I simply can't imagine what the next 30 to 40 magical years will hold. As long as it is with my dearest hubby, that's all that matters. So, here's many more amazing years to come and stay.

Happy birthday babe!

Since this is a very special post, I'm giving away 3 linky loves to the first 3 commenters instead of the usual 1.

My Birthday Boy

Today is my son’s birthday and it’s amazing how fast the last nine years have passed by. His age will always be easy to remember as he is a millenium baby. So being a typical 9 year old, the menu he selected consisted of a hearty fruit cake, his all time fave pizzas, ice-cream, dark chocolates with walnuts and some comic books. That said, my little dude is an avid collector of comic books. He collects them dedicated to the characters of his fave comic strips. Since he's done so well in his recent exams, we were more than happy to oblige.

So here's a shout to him! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Today marks a significant day for me as it's my birthday. That's right, another year has come and gone. Another year older, but definitely not wiser. Sigh.......As I grow older, my memory fails, my reactions deteriorate and the careless mistakes that I make become more regular. hehehe.........where birthday is concerned, mine has always been celebrated in a small scale basis. I'm not a materialistic person in the first place and I have very simple tastes in life. I've always like a fairly low-key celebration but seriously, I wouldn't have it in any other way. :-) It has been such a blessing to share fun, laughter and joy with family and friends. These are the gifts I live for everyday.

Do I smell birthday cake? Yup, hubby bought this for my b-day, a day earlier but that's perfectly ok. It's a fruit cake filled with you know, GOOD STUFF. Sinfully cool but delicious.

Incidentally, this month also marks the 13th anniversary of our marriage. It's been an amazing journey so far. We've been through a lot of upturns and downturns in life, difficult circumstances that has risen within our extended families, all kinds of unexpected situations. Despite all the obstacles that we had encountered, we are very much attached and leading a blissful life. We are thankful to have 3 healthy and crazy kids who bring us so much happiness, and a joyful extended family. I believe a woman needs to be understanding and supportive to be a good wife and mother. Apart from that, motherhood has taught me patience and to be more imaginative. So, here's many more wonderful years to come and stay.

Since it's my birthday, I'll leave you with one of my favorite songs of all time to spice up the occasion. It's Level 42's Something about You. I used to love that song and I still do. Infact, the music from the 80's and 90's brought back good memories.

Enjoy!
