This is probably the most advanced and the most comfortable bus-stop I've come across in my lifetime.
It's quite common to see most of the bus shelters for public transportation are air-conditioned enclosures in Dubai and this is the first city in the world to provide such luxurious facilities for passengers.
I think the concept is great considering that the temperatures can get up to more than 50C in the peak season.
It was really nice to cool off while waiting and then hopped into an air conditioned bus for a ride!
The unique shape and design resembles the sail of a ship and it reminds me of the dazzling Burj Al Arab hotel.
Our World
Wow.What an interesting shape.
ReplyDeleteOur country needs such a wonderful design in the city. :)
Sort of letter 'C'..as cool as cucumber..
ReplyDeleteNice bus shelter, makes me want to wait for a bus.
ReplyDeleteWow! What awesome bus stops! Never seen anything that great at any of the bus stops in my part of the world, that's for sure! And what a magnificent building! I love it -- along with the surf and blue skies! Incredible captures for the day and what a beautiful part of our world!!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
very sleek design. doesn't say middle east at all.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! I didn't know such stations exist and I find them very useful there.
ReplyDeleteBonza photo of a very stylish bus shelter next thing you know they'll install food and drink machines :-).
ReplyDeleteWow! Houston needs bus shelters like this. The building does look like the sail of a ship. Cool!
ReplyDeleteThe bus shelters are amazing! if only they had them here in Australia - waiting for a bus on a scorching summer day would be wonderful - in fact I think I would go sit in one just to get cool.
ReplyDeleteLove your pics from your corner of the world.
I immediately thought of the burj when I saw this! It looks very futuristic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bus stop and I like the building that looks like a sail too.
ReplyDeleteThat ship-shape building is crazy but sits well in the watery setting. Whoever designed it must have been thinking of Jorn Utzon's designs for the Sydney opera house and how well that looks on Sydney harbour.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful public service to have air-conditioned bus shelters. A great innovation, there weren't any when I was there last.
Great photos. Thanks for posting them on Our World.
That's a great idea. Bus riders here in the USA on their own.
ReplyDeleteWonderful set of images. The bus shelter is cool.
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly a modern-looking bus stop. And the hotel is absolutely fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's "cool". In Canada we need heated bus shelters!
ReplyDeleteAmazing buildings - they look like sails!
ReplyDeletetheir weather can be extremely hot, i guess the air-conditioned bus stop is really a good way.
ReplyDeletebesides, most them probably have cars...
Hi LR! :)
ReplyDeleteOh it does look like the building, so nice! :)
ReplyDeleteAir-conditioned too? Wow, no wonder my friend living in Dubai is having a blast there and not missing home at all ha ha! Lovely pic! :)
ReplyDeleteyes that bus stop is very nice, but i haven't seen it. The first Snow Park i saw was in Genting Highlands but we didn't get in, it was in Dubai where i experienced the false snow! I love the contrast because Dubai is desert!
ReplyDeletespell 'luxury' = MIDEAST! :) impressive!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a unique bus stop! If only we can find such air con bus stops in Malaysia! It sure is safe too especially during storms and lightning!!
ReplyDeleteNow that's something ! An airconditioned bus shelter !! I was already so happy to have a airconditioned tram in Istambul, that was my first !
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there. We don't have any of those type of bus stops in Baltimore. If you're out there on the bus stop and it's hot, you're gonna suffer. If you're out there on the bust stop and it's freezing cold, you're gonna suffer.
ReplyDeleteThey do everything big in Dubai. - Margy
ReplyDeleteThe most amazing thing is that the transport company actually thinks about the comfort of the passengers! Don't always get that downunder in Australia!! But then, the temperature isn't that high, either!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I visited Dubai in 2005 and really enjoyed it but I believe it is really different now, almost unrecognisable.
ReplyDeleteWow I'm impressed where I live your lucky if you get a bench. You usually have to stand out in the elements (rain, snow, cold,or warm)
ReplyDeleteNice shots!
Futuristic architectures. Are we in 2075 already? :)
