The hop on hop off bus was one of my most enjoyable experiences while in Rome. We had 2 days in Rome and managed to visit most of the top notch attractions in the city. You can find these sightseeing buses everywhere in other European cities too. It's very convenient for free and easy travelers like us and most of all, it saves your feet miles of walking. This is a good option to explore the city apart from using the metro system. The buses are frequent and had a good schedule. It was great to be able to hop on and hop off whenever we wanted.
The open top double-decker buses offer great views, but taking photos can be a bit hit and miss. Even though I can't take good pictures from the top, I had fun and enjoy the sights from a very cool perspective.
Are you a fan of hop-on hop-off bus tours?
What a fun way to tour the city. great captures for Ruby Tuesday!
ReplyDeletehaha...yea, sound so fun. i never tried that though. saw some of those buses in KL and other countries, maybe will try it next time. hehe...
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots for RT!
ReplyDeleteXOXO Lola & Nora:)
Great post for Ruby Tuesday. My RT is posted #13. Please do visit!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of hop-on hop-off bus got distracted by my favorite mini cooperS on the right haha. Cool bus to have a free hair blow and great sight seeing though you may not be able to snap pixz well. tQ
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to hop onto that bus! But I would have to jump mighty far to reach it from Ontario! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots. These are beautiful buses.
ReplyDeleteWe do have similar double decked tour bus here but usually taken by tourists.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind a night ride on the upper deck:)
Wow...how come theirs look so good? :p
ReplyDeleteI like the red one though because it reminds me of the one we have in Malacca. :D
ReplyDeleteI did the hop on hop off bus in Rome too. I love this way of sightseeing. In fact I'm so tempted to do the hop on hop off here in Sanfran and I live here :D

I've never done that but I love riding the bus. I would also love to go to Rome one day and will definitely get around the city this way. Very enjoyable photo and post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe buses are a good way to relax and enjoy the sights but no the best for photographing, of course!
ReplyDeleteMy Ruby Tuesday Post
I did that when I was in Boston, it's great
ReplyDeleteIt's a great way to sightsee.
ReplyDeleteI have yet been on one of those, maybe I try the buses in KL first. :D
Sounds like a great way to see the city! Downtown Dallas used to have what they called Hop-a-Bus in the downtown area. I think it cost a dime, back in the '80's. It was painted pink and had bunny ears, eyes and whiskers. Sadly, since rapid transit came to town, the bunny buses have all hopped away.
ReplyDeleteI had a chance to hop on and hop off a bus in Taiwan. It was a great way to explore the little town.
ReplyDeleteAre all the hop on hop off buses in Rome so gaily decorated?
ReplyDeleteIt is a great way to explore a place.

This sounds like a great way to see a large city. The buses themselves are very colorful.
ReplyDeleteI never try it, I prefer to explore and take my own sweet my time!
ReplyDeleteI love the hop-on hop-off buses! I try to take them whenever I travel to unfamiliar places for vacation!
ReplyDeleteThat's a real nice invention. I experienced it for the first time in London long time ago, but I think the other big cities copied this good idea !
ReplyDeleteHop on hop offs are rather expensive. Students like me prefer doing it the old fashion way, "walking" :p
ReplyDeletegreat photos, aren't those buses just great for sight seeing
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy hop on hop off trips round the cities we visit.
ReplyDeleteit would be so cool to have them here as well!
ReplyDeleteECL,
ReplyDeleteas far as i could tell, most of the buses are images depicting Rome's popular tourist destinations. The Red buses seemed to come more often though.
good looking images!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an awesome time! I hope one day I can go see Rome :)

Our local buses carry boring ads!
ReplyDeleteThat's nice! I have yet to try the ones in KL!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing the hop-on, hop-off buses in Chicago all of the sudden.
ReplyDeleteI love how you took pictures of the tour buses as opposed to FROM them!
Hi i am new here, and i envy your chance of doing that in Rome. In my 3 day stay there i walked for 1 whole day in the ruins. It was good it is really just walking distance from FAO. The 2nd day we already rode and walk, but yours was better. Nobody told me there were buses like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you were able to explore that much there. I like those buses =)
