Blogging Break

Just a quick post to let you know that I'll be going to Singapore for a short getaway so I'll be taking a brief blogging break.

Hopefully the weather will be fine and I'll be able to take some decent photos worth sharing.

I apologize that I have not been able to reply to your comments and visit your blogs.

Thank you for your love and continuous support.

Skywatch over Salzburg Cathedral

For this week's Skywatch entry, I'm pleased to share more photos of Salzburg Cathedral and these were captured from Hohensalzburg Castle.

A lovely view of the cathedral and the sky makes a perfect backdrop for the domes and steeples.

I can't decide which I like best, so I'm posting all three photos.

What do you think?

Wordless Wednesday - What to see? Where to go next?

This senior couple seems to be discussing what to see next and how to get there.

I like how they stay focused on planning their journey. Hope they were not lost and managed to find their way safely.

Our World - Rooftop sculptures

There is always something interesting to see while walking through Vienna. If you look attentively at the buildings, you will discover a lot of creative and eye-catching sculptures on the rooftops.

Here are some of my favourite shots for your viewing pleasure.

A sculpture of a screaming woman on top of an Art Nouveau building by Otto Wagner, one of the most notable architects of Vienna. She was screaming so loud and I wonder if she was often asked to tone her screams down. :)

This is another style of Art Nouveau by Otto Wagner that I came across at Postparkasse (Postal Savings Bank) building. While some people might find it bizarre, I really like the look of that installation art work and I couldn't resist taking a shot.

This goddess of victory totally rocks. I noticed her standing high in the air holding a laurel waving for attention. Her outstretched wings appear luminous and ready for take off. Couldn’t take my eyes off her!

If people didn't look up, they might have missed these interesting artwork. It pays to keep your eyes open. You'll be surprised by some of the unique things you might encounter if you keep your head up.

PhotoHunt - Two

For this week's photohunt theme, here are two photos taken in two different destinations.

Picture 043
Two unknown sculptures, male and female, caught my eye while I was wandering the streets in Shanghai. They look intriguing and both are about two feet tall.

And here's one in Moscow. A pair of lion's head door knockers adorn one of the wooden doors at the State Historical Museum. Happy knocking and happy 11-11-11.

Our World - Red Square by night

For this week's Our World entry, I'm featuring a couple of night shots taken at Red Square. There is always something colourful and enjoyable to see and capture there. The entire square is not only impressive in the day time, it's also a great spot to enjoy Moscow's night life when the buildings sparkle and shine with hundreds of flashing lights.

No tripod was used, all photos were handheld and I like the way they turned out. Thanks to my Nikon D90 camera which has a Vibration Reduction feature to reduce camera shake which I find useful when shooting without a tripod. Hope you like them too.
