Skywatch - Penang skyline from ferry

I took these recent photos while crossing on the ferry from Butterworth to Penang. It was a lovely day and riding the ferry allows you to soak up the sea breeze and amazing views. Here are some of my favourite shots from the ride. Enjoy!

Standing tall above the rest is Komtar, Penang's tallest building, a 65 storey tower located in Georgetown.

This is Swettenham Pier, where passengers board luxury cruise ships.

A Penang ferry travelling on the sea. The ride is a favorite among locals and tourists as it provides great views of Penang harbour and skyline.

Passing through the straits, you can see a stretch of apartments and condos along the shoreline with the mountains as a backdrop

I always think those cranes look like giraffes or flamingos. :)

  12. Looks like a busy seaport. Those are huge ferries. The ones here in San Francisco don't look anywhere that big.

  14. Very nice photos. When I'm in a sea city, I often like to take a ferry ride just for the views - and then I ride the same ferry right back. It's like a cheap cruise!

  17. Chinatours,

if you're looking to watermark your photos, there are actually plenty of options and software for it. but i'm only familiar with Picasa and i usually use it to edit and add watermarks to my photos. i find the instructions easy to follow.

thanks for appreciating my photos and leaving your kind comments here.

  22. Hi Andrea,

thanks so much for appreciating my photos. The Penang Bridge is 13.5km long stretching from Butterworth on the mainland to Weld Quay on the island. Before the bridge was built, people depended on ferry services to cross the Penang Straits. :)

  23. I lived in Penang for a long time and never managed to capture any photos so sharp and blue with clear skies like yours!! How did you do that? The Gods must be kind to you. LOL

I thought the Penang Bridge connects to Glugor and not Weld Quay. No?

  24. Hi Twilight,

it was all luck and it depends on good weather to take such photos. that was how the sky looked like before the crazy haze started blanketing the city.

you're definitely right about the Penang Bridge. thanks for highlighting my mistake. :) very paiseh.
