I came across this cleanly cut cable bicycle
lock on the ground. Sadly, bicycles are relatively easy to steal and with a flimsy
lock like this, it doesn't require much effort to swipe a locked bike. They’re such an easy target for dedicated crooks, opportunists as well as bored teenagers. :( I prefer a thick, high quality cable
lock to protect my bike.

What a sad sight to se the lock on the floor telling its own story.
ReplyDeleteAloha!
ReplyDeleteGreat take for this week's PH theme. I have a similar "lock" as well. Please stop by & visit!

ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteit is sad indeed. bike thefts seem to be on the rise lately.
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeletethanks. i'll visit you in a short while. happy PH!
Hi Jolene,
ReplyDeleteThe current demand for bicycles is very high and the recession has hurt many ppl financially.
ECL,
ReplyDeleteThe loss of a bike is always a sad thing. it is probably worse than anywhere else.
Wish people wouldn't steal others' possessions, bicycles or anything else... :S
ReplyDeleteIt looks like this lock has served its purpose well. :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear - that's sad. I feel for the person who lost their bike - good photo for this week!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend. :)
Wonderful composition on this shot, but a very sad backstory.
ReplyDeleteI agree that bicycles are easy targets for thieves.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant shot! :)
ReplyDeleteMariposa's PhotoHunt
both bicycles and motobikes are easy target. I keep my son's bicycle safely locked in the house. Don't dare to leave them in the corridor. So easy to cart away.
ReplyDeleteAh they are easy to cut sadly. The big sttel bar ones are effective though. Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteGreat pic for the theme! Happy photo hunting, and thank you for visiting :)
ReplyDeletei remember an uncle who has an expensive bike and he brought inside the store one of the wheels thinking the other will not be stolen. lo, when he came out, the other will was gone!
ReplyDeletenice take!
Hey LR! Thanks for all ur visits and comments during my vacation, am back! :):):)
ReplyDeleteIf you lived down here, I'd say that bike was half-way to Haiti by now. :-) Good shot and life lesson.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I'm sure the bike owner wished he/she had used a better bike lock. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame that people would cut a lock like that. Good take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteohhh, i hope the person who got the bike would feel guilty and return it!
ReplyDeleteBut even with a cable lock isn't it easy to get through with large cutters? As for the lock here... perhaps it was like my daughter's lock that we had to cut off because she forgot the combination. We can hope. Mine is up here.
ReplyDeleteSuch looks should be seriously discouraged by shopkeepers, how sad to lose a bike because of a cheap lock.
