Nature's Umbrellas
On my way out a few weeks ago, I spotted these growing on someone’s front lawn. I'm not sure if they're edible but a wrong guess could be fatal. They were white with a few brown spots on the top side. Unfortunately, I 'm unable to find any information on the fungi in the photos shown here.
I couldn’t resist taking more pictures of them. The front yard was teaming with life, going steady and continuous. It reminds me a lot of the Smurf mushroom village.
on a closer inspection, I must admit, I found its soft leathery texture to be quite amazing.
the close up of the underside of the mushroom!

ReplyDeleteI don't think it is edible. :p
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of these nature's umbrella. :D
ReplyDeletePretty awesome looking, nature in all it's beautiful glory
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Incredible detail on the underside shot. Too bad mushrooms don't come with signs telling us whether they are safe to eat...
ReplyDeleteIf they are huge and with wide hats they look exactly as parasol mushroom : http://www.menyse.com/3.12974/varufakta/stolt-fjallskivling/
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think of a little Smurf village. :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent closeups! All those little folds on the underside - neat!
Really good shot of the nature's umbrella you get there, LR.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to poke those fluffy mushroom. XD
Mushrooms cooked in garlic butter with a touch of basil then placed on a piece of toast yummmmmy!. I've been on many mushroom hunts and the last photo tells me they're not edible because the underside should be dark, you were wise to leave them alone.
ReplyDeleteHaha me thinking of Smurf too. Yeah agree one wrong move could be fatal heard lots of mushrooms are poisonous. Nice pixz like to feel the tenderness. tQ
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots!
ReplyDeleteLooks too beautiful to be eaten !
ReplyDeleteThe details and tones of the underside of the mushroom are so lovely. Who would have thought fungi could be so beautiful?
ReplyDeleteI know it may be confusing for you, Life Ramblings, but these mushrooms - called also Parasol in popular language - are edible! I have eaten them many times. They grow at the border of the forest, where more light is (at least in my country).
ReplyDeletevery nice ! did you eat them ??
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures.Greetings Andrzej.
ReplyDeleteNature's umbrellas indeed. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteSanta Centerpiece
Is that the fungus image?
ReplyDeleteVery nice picture
Love these shots... and I love mushroom soup!!! :0)
ReplyDeleteI think they are Macrolepiota procera, and with high foot very good, fried in butter. They smell almond. Very fine pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe mushrooms look cute!! I think if I see them, I will also cannot resist taking photos of them!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful macros of the mushrooms. I like the detail that you captured. The last photo is just great.
ReplyDeleteI always expect a little dwarf
ReplyDeletegreat shot!
Umbrellas - cool! lol Love them! You took us down into the little world!
ReplyDeleteI really really like the last shot. You captured the fine details well.
ReplyDeleteMine is here
The mushrooms I uncover also often look pretty and edible. It’s quite a risk to take, unfortunately, so I usually buy my mushrooms at the local store ... never to discover if the ones on my lawn are equally delicious and safe.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know if they're edible, but they look terrific in your photos! I, too, really love the last one! Great texture and detail! Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
interesting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. I loved the title of the post.
ReplyDeleteYou take the best Macros. I can't wait to get a macro lens.
ReplyDeleteThey are all so clear and the last one is truly awesome!
Jackie:-)
They look similar to field mushrooms which are edible but these, well, I would not try them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos thought!
Terrific captures.
ReplyDeleteThe last macro shot is great.
oh, gorgeous shots! my grandmother would know if these are edible or not--i used to pick up mushrooms with her when i was very young.:p
ReplyDeleteWhat delightful photos!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love photographing mushrooms too. When I go hiking most of the photos I post happen to be of the various fungi I saw!
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, they are kind of like natures umbrellas. A nice dry place for the smaller animals to seek shelter in bad weather.
ReplyDeletehahah so cute!! i love nature's umbrellas :D
ReplyDeleteexcellent shots sweetie!! ;)
