This week's photohunt theme is orange. This is probably my third favourite place in Rome after the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. It's a great spot for people watching and wonderful fountains can be seen here with intricate sculpted detail. The piazza is largely lined with cafes and restaurants and they can be very expensive and touristy.
Most of the buildings in this square are painted in cheerful shades of orange and I like how orange it is as it enhances the beauty of the square. The piazza is also one of the best places in Rome to get a portrait sketched by one of the street artists dotting the square. I was more interested to watch the artisans at work, some are incredibly talented!
This is the fountain of Neptune, found on the north side of the piazza. A masterpiece in its own right and it shows the imposing statue, 'Neptune fighting with an octopus'.
Wow..the fountains does look super gorgeous and like you said...were intricately carved. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Neptune fighting the octopus. What's with the horse then? :p
ReplyDeleteOrange? but they look like light brown to me? Hehehe...maybe i'm not good at judging colour.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and historically rich place! Love the contrast with the orange building in the background :)

superb captures!!
ReplyDeleteI love this piazza too. Your photos are beautiful. Make me want to return to Rome!
ReplyDeleteThe Italian buildings are so much more colorful than most here in the US. Great shades of orange.... I had a room in high school that was painted an orange color quite close to the bright building in the center of this last photo. Pair that with lime green and yellow and you can almost date my high school years.....;)
ReplyDeleteMy orange is here.

ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Rome.
I hope I could in the future.
