One of my fondest memories as a mother was reading to my children bedtime stories and I've always believed in reading to my kids would help foster a love of
words and reading. My strategy so far, is to immerse my children in Chinese/English books at an early age. I would introduced them to simple
words that apply to their daily life.
In addition to reading, educational DVDs are being introduced to my children at an early age. This set of DVD which comes in 10 volumes is by far the best I’ve come across with complete, straightforward explanations and interesting graphics. It is one of the fun ways to encourage kids to learn new reading
words. My 2 year old is absorbing the sounds, tones and
words based purely from all the repetition of
words that she has heard. She can happily watch it countless times. It has been incredibly fun, very educational and a good exposure of new
words and knowledge.

Aww....I wish I could read story books to my children to one day. :) I wanna read bedtime stories for them.

Stories boks are good for them... it keeps their mind going and they learn alot more when they read.. spelling, understanding, words..

I hope I managed to instill the love for words to Raimie too. He's been exposed to Malay, English, Arabic and a bit of Nihongo from small. ;)

I love the shot of your beautiful child. Reading to children is so important and before you know it they start reading to you. I remember when my daughter was little and she said, mom let me read a bed time story to you.

You're an intellectual mother and knows exactly how and when to train children with words. No matter how simple words they learn, it's a good start to learn.
exposing them to reading at the early stage is definitely one of the coolest thing to do. i was too, n am able to enjoy reading more than the others. ;)

One of the best time to bond with our child - to read stories at bed time. Your daughter is so cute - she looks so interested with the book she was reading.

i also agree with what you said... as early as now hubs and i have been talking how will our kids learn our languages. We agreed that We'll teach the baby English, Tagalog (Filipino) and Spanish. That's the best way also to introduce our roots.
